Speaker
Professor Pablo Ordejón

Title of talk: "Research and Innovation in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at ICN2"

Professor Pablo Ordejón is the Director of the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) since 2012. Under his direction, ICN2 has obtained twice the prestigious Severo Ochoa award recognizing the scientific excellence of the center. His research focuses on the simulation of materials at the atomistic level, and is one of the main developers of SIESTA, a simulation code used by hundreds of researchers in the academia and the industry. He was elected Fellow of the American Physical Society and Member of the Academia Europaea. He is also one of the founders of SIMUNE Atomistics, a spin-off company that provides advanced computer simulation services for materials design.
